Evacuation analysis
An escape analysis can be used in assessments related to deviations from pre-accepted performance in the construction case (see «Fire engineering»), or as an assessment of desired changes in the operational phase. At PiD Solutions, we use the escape simulation program Pathfinder for these purposes.
Using escape analysis as a tool in the operational phase, special risks from changed use of premises, events, etc. can be assessed. A model that shows the “normal situation” as the building or premises has been approved can be compared with the desired solution.
A new solution can, for example, involve a desire for a higher number of people and other changes that affect escape conditions in the building. The model makes it easy to identify challenges such as bottlenecks and congestion. In addition, the placement of furnishings and escape exits can be adjusted so that the new solution and normal situation coincide.
