Collaboration on better understanding of systematic fire safety work

PiD Solutions AS recently had a visit from representatives from The Norwegian Fire and Rescue Academy↗, which is part of the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Preparedness (DSB↗). The purpose of the meeting was to exchange experiences and discuss how we can together contribute to a better understanding of systematic fire safety work in buildings.

From the Norwegian Fire and Rescue Academy, Tom Erik Galambos, acting unit manager for prevention and oil spill response, and Andreas Kruhaug, course leader for prevention, participated. From PiD Solutions, fire advisors Lars Haugrud and Tore Nordahl, CSM Emil Westrum, and general manager Einar Feragen participated.

Common goal: better preventive fire safety

The Norwegian Fire and Rescue Academy educates future fire and rescue personnel in Norway. Their work includes, among other things, expertise in preventive fire protection and supervision in buildings, where the fire service assesses both technical solutions and the systematic safety work carried out by owners and users.

PiD Solutions AS works in the private market with a focus on fire consulting in buildings and businesses, including in connection with the design of new buildings, extensions, changes of use and the preparation of fire concepts, organizing fire protection, and more. In addition, we deliver the digital internal control system PiD Drift, which has been developed to support systematic fire safety work and documentation in buildings – both private and public – which is also required by law↗.

The importance of dialogue between the public and private sectors

A central theme of the meeting was the importance of dialogue between public supervisory authorities and private professional communities. Even though we work from different perspectives, we all work with the same goal: to ensure good solutions that prevent fires and contribute to safer buildings in everyday life for people.

Through exchange of experience and professional dialogue, the parties can contribute to a better understanding of how regulations, supervision and practical fire safety work should work.

Opportunities for professional collaboration

The meeting also discussed how PiD Solutions AS and other representatives from the private market can contribute as professional sparring partners in preventive fire safety, including through sharing of experience or contributions from our fire advisors in educational courses related to preventive work.

We greatly appreciate the visit and the professional dialogue, and look forward to further collaboration to strengthen knowledge about preventive fire safety and systematic fire safety work in Norway, also known as internal control.
